Development Coordinator

Women’s Economic Ventures (WEV), a non-profit organization dedicated to creating an equitable and just society through the economic empowerment of women, seeks to hire a non-exempt full-time (40 hours/week) Development Coordinator to work in WEV’s Ventura office. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Planning, implementation and follow-up for fundraising events including:
    • Logistics of invitations, reservation management and all printed materials for events.
    • Development and management of event budgets.
    • Volunteer coordination.
    • Supervise and coordinate all event contractors.
    • Works closely with the Development committee and WEV staff to identify and solicit corporate sponsorships.
  • Strengthens the Development teams’ donor cultivation efforts through event support and relationship building.
  • Maintains a presence at community events and works towards building and strengthening strategic community relationships.
  • Coordinates monthly and year-end correspondence to donors.
  • Works with the program and marketing staff to build alumni support and engagement in fundraising.
  • Supports Development staff and Fund Development Committees.

Reporting Structure: 

The Development Coordinator reports to the Development Manager. Consults with CEO in absence of the Development Manager.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in fund development
  • Event planning and coordination experience
  • Fundraising database experience
  • Must be a highly energetic professional with a track record of building donor relationships
  • Able to think strategically and creatively
  • Strong writing, multi-tasking, organizational and time management skills; able to work with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Commitment to WEV’s mission
  • Willingness to travel as necessary throughout Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties
  • Able to adjust schedule to work evenings or weekends

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • E-tapestry database experience
  • Existing knowledge and connections with the Santa Barbara and/or Ventura County community.
  • Photo editing experience (i.e. Photoshop)
  • Website editing experience (i.e. WordPress)
  • Graphic design experience
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Physical Demands:

  • Lift and carry up to 25 pounds without assistance
  • Sit at a computer, typing for 60-80% of the time

Education:

Minimum: Associates Degree

Preferred: Four year degree in Liberal Arts, Humanities, Communication, English, Sociology or other related field.

Compensation: 

$19.00-$23.00/hour; full benefits after 90-day introductory period including health, dental, vision, life insurance, sick & vacation days
