Payment Analyst
This position is responsible for performing regular analyses to provide financial insights to drive payment optimization, payment processing improvements and cost savings including Global Expansion and alternative methods of payments. Provides data to support management in the creation of payment strategies, efficiencies and mitigation of revenue leakage. Participates in meetings with key stakeholders and collaborates interdepartmentally, as directed by management.
Principal Responsibilities
- Gathers data required to monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of new and existing payment optimization strategies. Identifies customer profiles, sales channels, products, and business practices associated with payment processing (authorizations, sales transactions and refunds). Keeps current and up to date on payment processing regulations that may impact compliance and costs.
- Investigates reports of transactions and customer accounts that increase risk of revenue loss, or brand damage. Adapts existing tools, and researches new solutions as needed. Tests proposed solutions to ensure efficacy while preventing unintended adverse consequences that may result from implementation.
- Works with Fraud Prevention Payment Support Team and Management to identify external communication needs for payment processing interruptions and customer notifications. Creates email templates for approval for external and internal communications.
- Creates and updates reports relating to payment processing, payment optimization, department performance, and customer behavior. Identifies and monitors adherence to KPIs.
- Performs analyses of transactions related to payment processing costs. Researches transaction anomalies associated with decreased authorization rates.
- Maintains knowledge of industry best practices. Makes recommendations for process improvements and payment processing strategies to meet or exceed industry expectations. Maintains current understanding of payment routing and optimization and participates in research for alternative solutions and providers.
- Provides necessary input for business cases to secure external department resources for initiatives.
- Liaises with payment processor providers to address support, reporting, and feature needs. Collaborates and builds relationships with other departments to devise solutions to benefit and enhance the business.
- Trains department on new strategies, systems, and monitoring as needed.
- Understands PCI compliance levels and promotes assisting management in driving existing commerce as well as new acquisitions and mergers to full PCI compliance.

Knowledge and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business or related field or equivalent experience working as an analyst in a finance or payment processing environment.
- Typically requires 5 years working experience. 2+ years payment processing experience preferred.
- Strong computer skills, Internet skills, and high proficiency in MS Excel (e.g., PivotTable, LOOKUP, MATCH, etc.) AWS Data Warehouse. Tableau or similar program preferred. SQL experience a plus.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. High attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
- Understands complex business processes and the underlying transactional systems.
