JOB DESCRIPTION
Perform Quality Control Testing and Reporting duties in the concrete and aggregates testing laboratory.
– Perform all aspects of stripping, curing, capping and compression testing.
– Report concrete clinder strength test results according to ACI standards.
– Perform gradations tests on rock and sand samples along with tests such as cleanliness value, #200 wash, sand equivalency, specific gravities and absorbtions.
– Enter test results into a computer data base and distribute reports to appropropriate individuals.
– Gather cement, fly ash, and aggregate materials at production plants in preparation for concrete trial batch tests.
– Accurately weigh each material as listed on the trial batch sheets and set-up equipment for trial testing.
– Conduct scheduled calibrations on test equipment per calibration schedule.
-Maintainwork area and office equipment in a safe and clean condition at all times.
– Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
– Ability to peform these motions is mandatory: climbing, stooping, bending, squatting, frequent lifting of 75 pounds, occasional lifting of 100 pounds, stretching, sitting, and walking on uneven ground and stairs.
– Ability to work in extreme hot or cold weather, including wet environments.
– Able to work flexible hours with varying start times.
– Must meet OSHA 10 guidelines and able to follow all CalPortland Safety Policies.
– Able to read and write English.
– Must have valid driver’s license and be insurable.
– Certifications in ACI Field Grade I, ACI Lab I and II, ACI Strength Testing and ACI Aggregates Testing preferred or if no current certifications, must obtain ACI Aggregate and ACI Strength technician certification within 3 months of hire date and ACI Field Grade within 6 months of hire date.
– Position is subject to random drug testing.
– Must successfully pass a pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol test.
– Intermediate level Microsoft Office Suite knowledge preferred.
