Candidate position is for a Technical Support Engineer involved in supporting the packaging of IR detectors for high reliability space, military and commercial applications, with emphasis in IC interconnection.The successful candidate will train to become a factory facilitator for the tracking, movement and prioritization of critical program hardware.Candidate will interface will all levels of factory operations management, process engineering, manufacturing engineering, production control/material control (PCMC) and members of the program management staff.

This support engineer will work with factory staff and other support personnel to execute the manufacturing program plans for multiple production programs as well as emerging technologies.Rigorous attention to detail will be required track and prioritize multiple programs.A self-motivated, self-disciplined individual with an exceptional ability to multi task is the ideal candidate for this position.Communication and team building skills are critical as is the ability to work with individuals and teams outside the operations department.Tasks will involve working in accordance with process documentation, rigorous disciplined methodologies and work instructions.

Candidate will be working in a cleanroom environment with full ESD and FOD protocols in place. Exposure to industrial solvents, epoxies, adhesives and other chemicals is included.

Due to the ITAR nature of the process, materials and technical data, all candidates must be a U.S. person.

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of work in progress (WIP) programs such as PROMIS, VM, FIG, or the ability to quickly obtain/learn functionality in these types of programs.
  • The ability to read, generate or modify schedules in program management software such as MS Project.
  • The ability to use a financial spreadsheet program (e.g. MS Excel) to organize, sort, filter and otherwise manipulate critical program data.

 

Desired Skills:

  • Desired skills include a general familiarity with or knowledge of manufacturing technologies and equipment used in the production of infrared detectors.This includes precision alignment, wire bonding, metrology, photolithography, adhesive and epoxies, computer programming and a general mechanical aptitude.
  • Other skills include computer literacy, strong technical writing skills, knowledge of statistical process control methodologies, ability to read/interpret engineering drawings, ability to make and deliver technical presentations and/or training.
  • Familiarity or experience working with statistical software packages such as JMP or MiniTAB.
  • Skill or experience working with quality management systems such as ISO9001 and 14000.
  • Formal or informal training or work experience in statistics, statistical process control, design of experiments, material properties (especially metal alloys and intermetallic growth), 6-Sigma, root cause analysis and corrective action development.Six Sigma green belt or black belt would be highly desirable.

Required Education:The minimum acceptable degree is a two year/associates degree with requisite work experience to qualify as a technical support engineer.A four year degree is desirable, but not required with sufficient relevant experience.
